Aoteroa is the Maori name for New Zealand, which roughly translates to ‘the land of the long white cloud’. As one of the most isolated countries, it’s beauty is abundant and beyond compare. With its green open spaces dotted with fluffy white sheeps, the towering dusted peaks, the lakes that pop with beautiful shades of blue, it makes a mockery of Instagram filters.

New Zealand is made up of two main islands, North Island and South island, with over 600 smaller islands surrounding her. The two islands are extremely complementary to each other yet offer starking different landscape and activities. It would take more than two weeks to cover the best of both islands, yet with limited time off work and/or a limited budget, you may have no choice than to make the most of either the North Island or the South Island.

There is no simple answer to which island is better, it all depends on what you want to achieve from the trip. Regardless of the choice you make, you will have an incredible time and will be awe inspired by beautiful landscape, extensive menu of activities and friendly kiwis (the human, not the fruit nor the bird).
